Mechanical Insulation Apprenticeship Opportunities (Online applications)

We offer industrial and commercial insulation services covering 34 counties in Kentucky and 12 counties in Southern Indiana. Not only do apprentices gain much needed, hands-on training inside and outside of the classroom, they also earn a living wage from day one. This means, unlike traditional post-high school education, apprentices do not accumulate thousands of dollars in debt and have the ability to build a solid, stable middle-class life.

What does an Insulator do?

The function of an insulator is to insulate any mechanical system, whether hot or cold, from ambient temperatures. The systems may be as cold as -200º F and hot as 2000º F. An insulator must have the knowledge and skill needed to apply a variety of materials to ensure proper performance of the engineering mechanical system. The Insulators are also highly trained and licensed from the State of New Jersey to remove old Asbestos Insulation in a very safe manner. Occasionally the insulator will remove asbestos and replace it with new state of the art insulation materials. The insulator also installs firestop products in new and existing buildings, which prevents the spread of fire and smoke throughout a building.

Some examples of systems that get insulated:

  • Boilers

  • Chillers

  • HVAC systems

  • Plumbing

  • Steam and Process Piping

  • Storage Tanks

  • Refineries
