IBEW Local 668 Lafayette, IN is accepting Apprentice Electrician application
This job is part of a 4 year training program to become a Journeyman Wireman in the IBEW.
This training program consists of 40 hours a week of on the job training under the supervision of a Journeyman electrician. It will also include 2 nights a week of classroom training to learn electrical theory and applications. Successful apprentices graduate to become a union Journeyman and recieve an AAS degree from our local community college. All tuition costs are covered by the local contractors, so there is no fee to the apprentice for their training.
Requirements
- Be a minimum of 17 years of age.
- Be at least a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Present evidence that they possess a valid Driver's License.
- Provide an official transcript for high school or post high school education and training. This transcript needs to show evidence of successful completion of: one full year of Algebra or higher level math course with a passing grade. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
To qualify for an Interview, an applicant must then meet one of the following criteria:
- As prescribed by the JATC, pass the Electrical Trade's aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.
- Have a minimum of 2,000 hours of work experience in the electrical industry. If you have over 4,000 hours, you may qualify for advanced placement. Please reach out directly if you fall into either of these categories.
- Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if you are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience. An applicant with 3 years of military experience and discharged within the last 5 years will qualify for a direct interview.
