St. Joseph, MO Area Local Union #2 Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprenticeship

Sheet Metal Workers fabricate and install metal ducts which are used in ventilating, air conditioning, and heating systems. They also fabricate and install a wide variety of other products made from thin metal sheets, such as roofing and siding, commercial stainless steel kitchen equipment, partitions, sheet metal shelves in industrial establishments, store fronts, and chutes used for movement of material. Sheet metal workers cut the metal with hand snips, power shears, and other types of cutting tools. Heavier fabrication and welding is also an important part of being a Sheet Metal Worker.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Age-18 years of age (copy of your birth certificate must be submitted at time of application).

Applicant must be able to perform essential job functions of the trade, with due regard to aptitude, attitude, personal characteristics, and shall be subject to a medical examination and urinalysis test for drugs prior to being employed. Any applicant who has a positive urinalysis test, or refuses to take such a test, will not be admitted. The applicant may have the opportunity to work as a Pre-apprentice prior to being an Apprentice.

*The Apprenticeship Fund will pay the cost of theurinalysis and physical.

2. Applicant must live in the jurisdiction of the Saint Joseph Area Sheet Metal Workers Local #2 JATF. Applicants must reside, and have been a resident for at least three (3) months in the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan,Clinton,Dekalb, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, Worth in Missouri, and in the counties of Atchison, Doniphan Kansas.

  1. Selection of apprentices under this program is made on the basis of qualifications alone as set forth in the standards and selection procedures of the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee for the trade. All applicants are afforded equal opportunity, without regard to race, religion, color, sex, or national origin. The Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship Committee is responsible for final selection and placement of apprentices.
  2. Education - High School Graduate or shall have passed a General Education Development Test (G.E.D.). A copy of either the Diploma or G.E.D. certificate must be submitted at the time of application along with your High School transcript of classes laken.

5. All testing will be done via computer.

All applicants must have a working email address at the time of your test and the email must match the one provided on your application. Please note that testing will be over General Math and Mechanical Aptitude.
