Senior Business Analyst

Peak Performers has partnered with a Texas State Agency to assist in their search for a remote Sr. Business Analyst. In this position, you will be responsible for multiple projects that support the mission of the agency of improving outcomes for Texas students, with a focus on major enhancements and/or rewrite effort.

Major duties

• Perform advanced business analysis throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC), serving as a liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
• Gather and document requirements through JAD sessions, workshops, interviews, surveys, use cases, and workflow analysis.
• Analyze business processes, user needs, and system capabilities to identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
• Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, use cases, and software requirements specifications.
• Develop process flows, context diagrams, UML diagrams, wireframes, and mockups to support system design.
• Manage requirements throughout the SDLC, including change control, requirement status tracking, and traceability.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and verify that business and system requirements are fulfilled.
• Support post-implementation enhancements and ongoing requirements management.
• Manage deadlines and project deliverables while exercising independent judgment and initiative.

What are we looking for?

         Minimum

• 8 years of experience gathering requirements through customer interviews and developing clear, well-written system requirements.

• 8 years of experience working throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).

• 8 years of experience with business process reengineering and software process flow improvements.

• 8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases following business analysis best practices.

• 8 years of experience designing mockups and wireframes aligned with UX best practices.

• 8 years of strong communication, facilitation, writing, and organizational skills.

• 4 years of documented experience using Atlassian Jira for issue tracking.
  Preferred 

• 4 years of experience working with the agency, another federal, state, or local education agency, or an education vendor.

• 3 years of documented experience using Modern Requirements software.

• 2 years of experience supporting complaint and case management workflows, including intake, investigation, and resolution.

• 2 years of experience with educator certification processes, federal/state grant programs, or state funding programs.

• Rate: $85.00/hour

• W2 Contract

• Worksite Location: Remote

• Contract through 8/31/27 with opportunity for extension
