Child Protective Services Specialist III (DFPS- Laredo)- Travel Required
This role supports the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) caseworker by monitoring children during office or community visits and ensuring their safety, well-being, and daily needs are met, including food, medication, hygiene, education, and recreational activities. The position seeks individuals with experience working with children who have experienced abuse or neglect, or with prior child welfare agency experience. The Child Protective Services Specialist III is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the Goodwill values of Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.

Goodwill Staffing Services is looking for a Child Protective Services Specialist III (Temporary-Position) in Laredo, Texas.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Caseworker Support Coordinators (CSC) will be working together with DFPS caseworkers in providing supervision of children without placement (CWOP). Children can vary in age, but primary the population that will be worked with is children that can range from 10 to 17 years of age.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting the DFPS caseworker with monitoring children
- Ensuring their needs are met during their office or community location stay to include: safety, food, medication, hygiene, education and entertainment/recreational activities.
- Looking for individuals that have experience working with children who have experienced abuse neglect, or have prior experience working for a child welfare agency.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONs & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or Six months of experience as a social work and/or caseworker experience that will suffice the requirements.
- Regarding the level of education, a Bachelor’s in Social Work, Psychology, and/or Criminal Justice is preferred, but not required.
- Able to listen to customers, analyze expressed needs and suggest solutions and action plan.
- Uses tact, diplomacy, and persistence in providing suggestions to customers. Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office; familiar with and able to use computers;
- able to learn new software.
- Works well in teams and with resident customers and other staff (flexible, congenial and adaptable).
- Able to communicate orally and in writing at a business level. Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Must pass typing test of 60wpm (required)
Caseworker Support Coordinators provide supervision during the following available shifts:
VARIES Day & Night
Daily Overnight Coverage: 5:00pm–1:00am & 1:00am–8:00am
Weekend Daytime Coverage: 8:00am–1:00pm & 1:00pm–5:00pm
Travel mileage will be reimbursed at the current state rate for any mileage travelled from the location of the CSC’s identified headquarters or residence (whichever is the lesser distance) to the location CWOP supervision is being held.
Mileage will not be reimbursed for travel from CSC’s residence to their headquarters for CWOP supervision.
